Why Does Mould Keep Coming Back?

If mould keeps appearing after cleaning, the underlying moisture problem may still be present. Identifying why the surface stays damp is an important part of preventing recurrence.

Common moisture sources

Indoor humidity, condensation on cold surfaces, leaks and water entering through the building fabric can all contribute to mould growth. More than one factor may be involved.

Cleaning is not the whole solution

Removing visible mould can improve the affected surface, but it does not necessarily address the conditions that allowed growth. Extensive or persistent mould may require a more thorough remediation plan.

Ventilation and suitable treatment

Improved extraction, humidity control, repairs or other measures may help, depending on the cause. Mould fogging can sometimes form part of a treatment plan, but is not a substitute for fixing the moisture source.
